Most of Harry Potter. I read the first two in the late 90s, before the hype machine got started, enjoyed them well enough, but then when the whole OMG BEST SERIES EVER!!!1 machine got rolling it completely killed my desire to read any of the others, because obv I had read much better things. I got spoiled for the rest of the series by fandom osmosis and never did bother to go back.

That's a pretty hipstery reason to not read a series that you otherwise enjoyed.

Yeah duh, that's why it's on a thread about avoiding things for stupid reasons. In my defence, I was 13 when I quit following the series.
