I'm really not trying to be rude when I say this, but I think you're misinterpreting how people work.

The majority of fandom does not give a shit about canon. They will swear it up and down left and right, but they do not give a shit.

They want to ship. They will ship. They're going to ship forever. Whether there is blatant evidence against it or not doesn't matter.

Myself included. I just want to read/see my characters relationshipping and fucking. *shrug*

Actually, the problem can be on the other end too, when they care too much about canon matching up with their ship and either insist that it is canon, or get all butt-hurt every time their implausible expectations, shockingly enough, are not met.

But they have their fic with relationshiping and fucking just as much!
