Hey I noticed a dollar sized patch of no hair on the parting line of my hair. I'm a bit concerned. Is this normal? Will it go?

Alopecia is one possibility, but don't panic. If you're really concerned about it, see a doctor.

My friend found 2 more spots for me and, well, kind of hard to NOT freak out. It's my hair ;___;

seconding the seeing of a doctor, but do you ever move around where you do the parting?

i'm no professional so beware of my advice, but i've heard that helps

Did you recently have a baby?

Trufax, women stop shedding their hair when they're pregnant for the most part and then after you have the baby, all the hair you would've shed during that nine months just sort of all falls out at once. I had little bald spots near my temples. It was sad. But it goes away if that's what it is for you.

If not, I second seeing a doc.

ahhahaa Nope nope nope nope no baby and no chance of being pregnant. Not on BC either or sexually active (so STI's ruled out?) and pretty sure it's not hereditary as all my grandfolks have hair...

but yes, I think I will see a doctor and hope no more spots of bald appear before I can go. *anxious finger crossing*

Okay, when you're there ask them, along with whatever else they want to do, to test your iron levels.

I have anemia and though my hair doesn't come out in patches it does get thinner and fall out a lot if I don't take my iron/my iron levels are low. Also, if they say your iron is "borderline" it may just be that your iron goes up and down and they didn't catch you at the right time. I have a history of anemia since childhood but it took me months to convince my new doctor I have it because my iron levels fluctuate with my period and I kept getting tested at the wrong time.

oh i will be careful to ask them that. I've written it on the note i've got to make sure I don't forget anything to tell the doctor.

there's probably going to be blood tests? oh no i hate needles. I will do this for my hair. I need hair to keep my head warm so...

That's a great idea. I do that too.

If you're afraid of needles I might know something that can help. I know my lab lets me take people with me when I get my blood drawn. You can take a friend or family member with you maybe and hold their hand while the lab person takes your blood.
