13. I understand. After I learned what Orson Scott Card was really like, I became really conflicted and upset because Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead are among my favorite books.

Then I decided that as long as they don't bring their offending personal philosophy into their works, I can ignore them as individuals and just enjoy what they produce.

I fee the same way. I love Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead very much, but some of his more recent stuff does reflect his offending personal beliefs. It's really unfortunate.

Well, crap. I guess it's a good thing I never really branched out beyond his Ender/Bean trilogy.

And by trilogy I mean quartet(s), naturally. *facepalm*

The Bean ones are where I started to see it, but the original 4-book arc is pretty clear of it. I haven't read anything of his outside that universe. I'm scared to.

really?

what's he like? I love the entire Ender's Game series.

Homosexuality is a sin and should be kept quiet, supports the Iraq War and everything associated, global warming doesn't exist, all that good stuff. I think there was more but I forgot it.

he said those things?

that kind of sickens me. what the hell, Card. D: ...oh well, at least he writes good books. I'm just kind of glad he doesn't shove his agenda in them.

He's a Mormon, and while I know that not all Mormon's are fanatical in their beliefs, he is. It's not just the homosexuality thing. He also seems to think that women should all marry and make a whole mess of babies.

oh, I see. I don't have any problem with the Mormon thing, but the whole woman-as-baby-making-machine thing kind of squicks me. :[

that's sad. :[

I was so sad that he turned Petra into a baby-making-machine. She was awesome.

She was, what, 15 when she got all "BEAN I NEED YOUR BABIES!" wasn't she? It totally creeped me out.

Then at the end of the last book she had married Peter and had 5 more babies with him. It was disturbing.

Ignore journal, don't want to reload this page on a different account.

What do you mean? What's wrong with Orson Scott Card? Go ahead, ruin it for me! 8D

He just holds a lot of opinions and beliefs I really don't agree with is all. Things like supporting the Iraq war and insisting homosexuality is a sin and claiming there is no global warming and such.
