Well, there can be powerful emotional release without 'I start crying when i see your cock and I just cry harder when we have sex and then it's so great and we're still so depressed, let's cry some more!'. One of the ways I've approached it is with laughter- well, you know, those awkward moments when you just break down laughing because everything is so ridiculous? Happens during sex too.

If my partner was crying all over me (and I had a penis)? I'd lose the erection in a snap. Just... no. Do not use them as a Kleenex while you hump.
