I understand why people hate Abby, but why do you hate Gibbs?

The only main character I've hated on this show was Kate, and even that's faded (at least a little) because of my love for Sasha after watching Rizzoli and Isles.

I can't speak for OP, but I can say why I hate Gibbs. He's a stubborn ass. He's borderline abusive to his team, brainwashes them all to be completely devoted. He's pretty sexist and occasionally racist and it's portrayed as a gentlemanly Marine strong-man thing instead of the condescending asshat behavior it is.

I also hate Gibbs. I hate that he's always right and upheld as this heroic figure, despite the fact that he fucks up a lot and does shitty things and is generally horrible to people. I hate that he can never make mistakes and learn from then.

And I loathe how he's a sexist, borderline misogynistic pig and yet is scene as a good man regardless.

The only character I hate more than Gibbs is his mentor, Mike Franks. God, how I hate Mike Franks.

Yup, pretty much all of that. Except I wouldn't have said borderline anything, I think he's straight up a sexist misogynistic pig. I didn't really pick up on it until I was sick one day and watched an all day marathon on USA. That shit gets repetitive and really obvious. Same with Tony.

...I have never seen him as sexist. In fact, he outright calls his misogynistic ex-mentor on being misogynistic when he makes the comment about a woman being in charge. He trusted Ziva enough to try and kill her and to help her when she was being accused of murder and other things.

Of course he's right most of the time, though. He's the protagonist.

And yes, he has been fucking wrong. Or did you forget that plot that spanned multiple seasons where he didn't pick up on Lee being the actual mole until near the goddamn end?

Just because he's the protagonist doesn't mean he has to be right every single time about everything.

Except I gave you the biggest example of him not being right, and I still don't see him being a sexist pig. I've been watching it all day, too. He seems like he's equally an ass to everyone.

Being an ass to everyone doesn't mean he's not still sexist. Obviously you don't see that in him so whatever, different interpretations of characters and all that.

It's in the way it's written. Even in the off chance that he's actually wrong, the show writes it in a way that Gibbs still comes off as the hero. He disobeys orders, ignores rules, and does stuff his own way and it's portrayed as this manly cowboy good guy thing. Again, different interpretations of the character. So whatever. I see a pretentious sexist ass, you see a hero.
