Yeah, I noticed this too. It's really so common as it was lampshaded in that "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" movie because in that, the girl had to do the opposite: she had to wear her hair in a ponytail and put on glasses to succeed!

This does frustrate me a bit because, come ON, long hair gets in the way so much. Putting it up is SENSIBLE. Realistically if you have a woman that's fighting with long hair and it is down she is substantially more likely to lose because she can't SEE.

Agreed to all this (especially the sensible part), though I admit I'm vain and so don't focus on that too much. Though up-do's can be attractive too and I'd like to see more female action stars have hair like that.

I loved that lampshade so much. And the way the dude was like "you were hot before, but now that you can see and your hair's out of your way, you're amazing!" Efficiency beats all. Although I will never understand why she didn't get contacts, but that's an acceptable plot hole.

0_o I have really long hair, rarely put it up, and it doesn't get in the way with much of anything; I even run with it down fairly often. It's just a matter of what you're used to + the way it falls, I guess.

I had waist length hair until I was 20 and it got in the way everywhere. It was hot, got caught in seat belts, necklaces, in the junctions of classroom chairs. So I'm going to go out there and say that at least in my experience, it was pretty much anti conducive to actiongirling.
