I refuse to believe the author isn't a troll. Every time she comes to the defense of this mind-fucking fail of a book she uses every cliched "but I'm not a racist!" defense known to humankind.

/I don't care what anyone says I will continue to believe she must be trolling.

Maybe she is one of those type of people who honestly believes that she isn't racist in that, "I am not racist. Some of my best friends are black" facepalm sort of way? Like she is completely un-self aware of her own racism.

Well her book does make her seem pretty fucking stupid. She doesn't even deliver on her magical reverse racism concept as the main white character is racist against the same black people she's supposed to believe are superior to her.

That's probably why it's a vanity published book rather than house published book.

You read things like this and realize there is good freaking reason for big house publishing editors.

I haven't read the book, but from what I've been reading it looks a lot like she's trying to be progressive and is trying to be deep and just doesn't realize she's being racist. Like, she's trying to do something anti-racism and blatantly failing miserably.

The impression I've gotten is that she's a self-aggrandizing jerk who wanted to do something 'progressive' just to make herself look good. The original article in which she talks about how wonderful her idea is really gave me the impression that she actually fears the thought of white people not being the majority. And then when she wrote defending the book from all the criticism what it basically said was "My idea is great! Why can't you see??" while simultaneously deleting comments from people of color who disagreed with her.

Have you seen her "Conceivably, if the book had not reached the African-American community of readers, if such a category still exists,..." comment? That was one for the records.

Man, either she's a dumb gross racist or a trolling gross racist, not much difference.

Yes. And her "I clearly know what it feels like to be a black person because once a boy called me a racial slur intended for a black person," I hate the fact that her biggest problem with that anecdote seemed to be that he used it against a white person.

What was up with all of that stuff about the only black person she saw growing up was her housekeeper? Maybe that should have been enough indication that you don't know enough to be writing this book.

Oh crap, I forgot that "someone thought I was black one time, it was horrible" thing.

Well just because the African-American community(which may or may not exist) is criticizing her handling of the book doesn't mean she's racist, it just means they're racist towards whites.
