It probably would have made for an interesting movie. That said, I'm happier than I could ever express that they didn't go that route--another movie with Jean Gray and Scott Summers and I think I might have started boycotting.

(Also, talk about the continuity errors--Bobby Drake in the original trilogy and in First Class? Fans would have hated it.)

The X-men First Class movie had so many continuity errors that I'm shocked they don't just consider it an alternate continuity altogether. They don't really expect us to believe that the trilogy and First Class are compatible do they?

nayrt

LOL this. I liked the movie, but I nearly had a seizure while trying to figure out how the fuck they could possibly be in the same universe. The most glaring error was probably that Xavier was walking when he and Magneto went to Jean's house (and why the fuck was Magneto with him in the first place if they got divorced during First Class? Did they have an on again off again relationship? Actually, that's pretty funny. I'll consider it my headcanon). Did some mutant grant the Professor the ability to walk for a day? Da fuck? There were other continuity issues but that one made me lol the most.

First Class is an alternate history, not a prequel. Vaughn's made this pretty clear.

First Class was not meant to be a direct prequel of the other X-men movies. It's an alternate history, just as Wolverine Origins was not a direct tie-in. Matthew Vaughn said: "My main rule was, ‘You know what, we’re trying to reboot and start a whole new X-Men franchise’ and therefore, making a film work on its own two feet was far more important than trying to be referential to the prior movies".

Read a little, people.
