I'm sure a lot of Canon Character/OC fics are like this (hell, I wrote some like this as a kid to my shame), but I've seen them be pretty justified sometimes. I've noticed them be used particularly well in stories set long after the series end, where a character in their kid/teens is grown up and the focus, and the story is more about their adult life, and they just happen to be married or in a relationship because, well, people do that sometimes. In one I'm thinking of in particular, the OC wasn't a major focus, she was just partially around to show that the character the fic focused on did manage to move on from a lot of shit he went through in canon. (Hard to explain why him getting married would be part of this without going into the entire backstory of canon, but it worked for that particular character.)

I'm not saying you have to like it or anything, just saying that I definitely think there's legit reasons to have an OC in a relationship with a character.
