Oh I understand the urge but the last time I told someone on F!S to fuck off with that "If you don't look like the gender you identify with you fail," shit someone made a fake account and trolled my PM inbox and I suspect at least one of these commenters is that anon.

I'm sorry to hear that, people suck but good for you for telling them to go fuck themselves.

But that (among other reasons) is why I'm going anon for this, but it's so fucking infuriating to see the level of entitled, judgemental, un/misinformed bs going on in here. In part, when you say "sex change" rather than "transitioning" that's going to colour the direction of the conversation significantly because a lot of people just really don't know what a "sex change" actually involves and have probably never had the experience of trying to pass/be read as anything other than cisgender.

Well you went anon so nothing to lose but I'm pretty much convinced and really, really hoping this is just a wank-baiting thread.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-10 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, pretty much. Personally, I'm not outing myself (on several levels) for the sake of morons on F!S.

I imagine there's a lot of wank-baiting going on here, definitely, because trans* issues (and FtM in particular, I think) is a red-hot wank topic online, but some of the things going on in this thread are very real things that I've heard people say irl to me when I talk about myself as trans* so I'm less quick to dismiss as trolling, sadly :\

I'm sorry that happened to you. If it makes you feel any better the wording here is pretty familiar so there is a chance that in this case at least these idiots aren't idiots like that?

(Anonymous) 2012-08-10 09:14 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, but if anything it just adds to my 'tool kit' when it comes to talking about and dealing with this topic and often it's not malicious so much as it is ignorant. I imagine you're right that it's something similar here, at least in some places but when it's brought up with such negative connotations (i.e., "He had a sex change and cheated and sucks") then a degree of overlapping hostility is just to be expected, I suppose.
