Anybody in today's society could cop an insanity plea after all the shit Tyrion's been through at the hands of his father and not fault him for throttling the woman who lied to save her own skin and the father who was fucking the sloppy seconds. Shae and Tywin got what liars and betrayers get in life, in a just world: dead.

Did Shae make the best move to protect herself? In her mind, yes, absolutely. She probably was doing what she had to to survive. No more, and no less. She didn't love anyone but herself. Tyrion knew that, but he hated admitting to it and engaged in some great self-deception. He paid the price... and then he took his pound of flesh out of both of them for fucking him over when he'd bent over backward to protect a kingdom that hated and spat on him.

As for ADWD: that shit was abominable and I don't even know that I'll read TWOW. GRRM should be ashamed of letting that drivel see print in public. It was unfinished, unpolished shite. But this is what the editor gets for trusting him and not asking for a solid blow-by-blow outline for a series this ambitious.

I can fly sometimes. Mostly it's just wilfully ignoring gravity so I can float a little way above the ground. Sometimes I have giant invisible bird wings, and I can go up, but as soon as I'm not gaining altitude, I drop like a rock. I've woken myself up a few times by panicking because I was in freefall.

Once, I had a dream where I was a plane and made a vertical takeoff. It was fucking amazing. I still haven't figured out how to replicate it though.

I used to be able to fly all the time when I was a kid; then when I became a teen, it became really hard. I actually accidentally learned to lucid dream because I wanted to fly so much. Now it's pretty much all I do.
