fuck that. op: if ever the chance to direct your study like that comes your way again, go for it! just because it isn't shakespeare or over 50years old, does not mean it is worthless!

in my creative writing class for our final assignments we had free reign (apart from word count). my whole class did ~thoughtful ~introspective fiction. and you know what - i wrote an upside-down fairy tale because that was *me*. i can tell you i sounded like the odd one out when it came to the readings. i got totally side-eyed for genre fiction. it wasn't *real* creative writing.

but full marks and a commendation indicated otherwise ;)

Dude, some things that appear in Shakespeare: fairies, love potions, stylized tournaments, mystical healers, several Greco-Roman deities, a magician who controls the elements, and a Welsh wizard who calls spirits from the vasty deep. Bro would not have had a problem with modern genre fiction. ;)

oh you're so right! i hadn't even thought of it that way :D

his works which delve into myth are probably some of my favourite works, thinking about it. o lawd, venus & adonis is an orgasm of words. i need to find a dramatic reading of it somewhere - stat!

Have you read Kit Marlowe's 'Hero and Leander'? If you liked V&A, you'll like that. It's a chicken and egg thing where we're not sure which poem definitively came first, but they were definitely riffing off of each other.

YES! Hero and Leander is fantastic! not sure what would be my fave, it's way too tough to decide

thank you for reminding me about H+L, i think i might give it a re-read tonight! :D
