(Anonymous) 2012-08-14 01:26 am (UTC)(link)So... yeah. I think speculative fiction is important, and I really wish it was treated with more respect.
As for other genres, and fantasy... what exactly is so wrong about creating fantastic new worlds and stories to enjoy? It may not be trying to explain our world anymore, but it's pretty much modern-day mythology! There's nothing wrong with making up fantastic stories and enjoying them. In fact, I'd say it's an integral part of being human. If you can't enjoy at least some brand of made-up story, I feel like your life is poorer for it.

Lol they all agree, but they call it "speculative fiction". What they mean is, of course, "high quality sci-fi".
