I dunno, to me he seemed like an annoying whiny hipster douchebag with no spunk or earnestness who was pissed off about everything and thought he was really cool and who wasn't geeky in the slightest and thought that his thoughts about Gwen were so ~deep that he couldn't put them into words.
Whereas Tobey's was a bit too emo, yeah, but at least he usually kept his chin up and tried to make the best of things in little ways, accepting instead of scowling when pointless Charlie-Brown-esque shit happened to him and seemed to me like an actual shy nerd who was a truly pleasant and kind guy at his core.
But that's just my opinion, just like what you said is just your opinion. Not "clearly the much, much better Spidey" and sure as fuck no condescending "you seem to have them mixed up." Jesus, how hard is it to process the concept of "different people like different characters"?
