By your own logic, if a film like Battleship gets rave reviews and dominates the Oscars, it would be arrogant to ask why such a film is getting so much positive acclaim.

Not at all. By my logic, asking why people like something isn't a fault. Bitching because you don't get it, presuming your opinion is the only right one (which you can deny all you want, but it's pretty clear you think less of those that disagree with you) and generally being an elitist asshole ARE faults.
