Wordpress was the first thing I looked into, but I couldn't get it to work. I read up on how to make a static front page (since this is a more traditional website rather than a blog) but Wordpress wouldn't save any of the changes I made to the layout. I went through a bunch of troubleshooting through Wordpress and the only advice they could give was there were permission issues with the database but as far as I could tell, everything was fine.

Since I'm not really creating a brand new site, just changing some elements about the current one, I thought it would probably just be easier to find some tutorials on the things I was unsure of (like the slideshow) and do it myself.

Anyway, thanks. I'll have to check out Notepad++ and TextMate.
