Christ, this. I can't with whiny fandom people not being able to control the media they consume. It's not like you have an obligation to be on tumblr every day.

I used to think I was lucky because I'd never had anything "ruined" for me by a crazy fandom - even with fandoms I actively participated in - but now I think some people are just lazy and really bad at brushing off the stuff they don't like.

Both Tolkien and Sherlock Holmes have huge fandoms. In a large fandom, it's just guaranteed there will be stuff that doesn't float your boat, but it's likely there will also be stuff you really enjoy. The thing is, though, it's your job to avid the former and seek out the latter.
