I'm really sorry about the spam thing. *embarrassed* I get carried away and don't realize how fast those comments add up sometimes. I'll keep an eye on that!

But I don't understand the page 2 reference. I thought that was for clickables? Not that I plan on doing this anymore! Just wanted to know what that meant.

I meant go ahead and spam away on page 2! If you use a page that's not the first one with the secret threads on them, that doesn't force people actually trying to comment on the secrets to scroll past long conversations.

Non-fandom conversations are ok and stuff, "what made you happy / what did you do today" kinds of things are fine! But when it's down to like 2-3 people replying to each other repeatedly with just gifs - just start a gif party thread on page 2 or something?

Hmmm alternatively, I could start posting the "general comments" thread at the bottom beneath the NS/NF thread. Or on page 2 to begin with.

And seriously, I really am sorry about all the threads I've been spamming in lately. I promise I do know how to use personal messaging/restrain myself from making drawn-out stupid jokes.

New threads are fine! I'm not concerned about that part, but the gen comments have been kinda exploding lately and it IS a long scroll to even get to thread 1 (not because of spam but because there are just a LOT of different threads).

I'm not really sure how to fix that yet, am thinking about it. I don't really like the "move the whole general-comments thread to page 2" idea because then people can't see them immediately. I think for now I'll just add a note to the top asking people to move individual threads to page 2 if they get really long.

Was the original intent of general comments for commenting or asking about the community/multiple secrets? Because maybe you could leave general comments up for commenting on the community, etc. and have a conversation post on page 2?

It was actually originally for OT threads, so it's generally being used as intended! Just used way MORE than expected, is the thing. And I don't mind it really, it's kinda hard to explain -

Uhhh like general comments are kind of for the whole community? Somebody asks a question and wants mass input, or wants advice, or wants to find a song or an obscure movie title or wants to post pics/vids/recs for everybody to see - that's cool. It's just when it starts turning into a long back-and-forth between just 2-3 people, it stops being a community discussion thread and becomes the thread of those two people, you know? Then those few people could migrate over to page 2.

What if you implemented a policy where people could post the topic in the general comments but then link to the actual conversation on page two? That might work.

I think General Comments at the bottom of the page is a really really good idea.

I love all the GC threads but I admit I do get annoyed having to scroll so much to get to the actual secrets. But on Page 2 would be kind annoying too - so at the bottom of the page is perfect. I don't have to switch pages, I can scan General Comments and actual secrets all in one go but the longest section will be out of the way at the bottom.

And I think linking to discussions on page two is kind of a pain in the ass, but then I'm kind of lazy so.

yeah I agree, the general comments after all the secrets would make it easier maybe?
