Crafting MMOs?

Anybody know of any MMOs (that aren't Minecraft) with a focus on cooperative crafting/craftskills? Ideally something where you can grab a bunch of friends, specialize in different areas, and build a town or something like that.

Everything I've found so far is either A) cool crafting system then everybody has their own patch of land to work on and it's not cooperative at all (e.g. Glitch), or B) there's cooperation in pooling resources for a guild castle or something but everything else is combat-focused (e.g. ... most standard MMOs).

These lovely insects can be distinguised from damselflies by the fact that they hold their long wings perpendicular to their bodies when they come to rest on things. Yesterday I was sitting at the bus stop reading my book when an old man, clearly in his seventies, sits in the empty spot next to me on the bench. I looked up from my book and nodded at him in acknowledgement because I'm polite like that I guess and went back to reading. The next thing I know this old man is CARESSING the top of my foot which isn't covered by my ballet flats. I then also notice that he's peaking into my bag because he asks for some Pringles, the can of which is sitting in the top of my bag. Needless to say I was all WTF, and avoided the entire situation by jumping on the next bus.

I'm so, so horrible at coming up with a username anytime I have to sign up for a new site. I always end up doing either something boring with some variation of my name/initials/birthday or other meaningful numbers, or something totally cheesy and girly, and I don't even know where those come from because that's not really my personality at all. For some reason I just completely suck at coming up with anything that's not totally stupid.

when writing fanfiction is it best to plan?

I have only written like three fics in my life. Needless to say, I am not very good. I'm not bad but I do have trouble coming up with a direction that I want the story to go toward. I usually write something that I've wanted to write, but I have been browsing ficathons and I think I might try filling other people's requests. The thing is, I don't know how to write them without them being absolutely sucky. I usually write and come up with plot as I go, but that proves to be tiring and also stressful. I'd love tips or websites to consult about writing fanfiction.

Many years ago, I went to Japan on an exchange trip, and my host family bought a dessert.

It was shaped like a muffin, and was made of this brown paste stuff that was layered so it looked a bit like knitting or weaving. I think there was icing dusted on the top. The brown paste tasted of caramel. Inside, it was filled with cream.

It was the most delicious thing I've ever had.

My host family called it a "mon brown" or something like that, so I think it might be French? Google results bring up nothing.

It was nearly noon when Lisa finally summoned the motivation to get out of bed. She slid ungracefully off the edge of the mattress, dragging a large section of blanket with her. Her head swam with the aftereffects of sleep and ether overload. She had never had a drink, let alone been hungover, but she imagined that this would be what it felt like.

She padded downstairs to the kitchen and rummaged through the fridge. Nothing seemed appetizing. Hunger burned in the pit of her stomach, but something else did, as well, something that churned unpleasantly at the sight of food. She sighed. It was a stupid thing that she had done, letting herself get so caught up the night before; Derek had warned her against pushing herself. But they were running out of time, and the Twins were growing agitated, and she wanted to be ready. When the time came, no one would ask her how much she could handle. Either she'd be able to fight or she wouldn't.

She leaned against the counter, considering whether or not to force herself to eat, then decided it would be best to try again later. There was reading to be done, in any case, and she'd procrastinated enough already. She moved to the living room and curled up on the couch; the emptiness of the house, the quiet stillness, enveloped her. Her parents had been going on trips like this since they'd deemed her old enough, and trustworthy enough, to be left alone. She was used to it; the silence was cozy and familiar. But today, it seemed almost alive, crackling and vibrating with energy. She cradled a text on Chinese history in her lap and tried to focus. Words blurred. The warmth of the atmosphere tugged at her attention. Every part of her was reacting -- senses straining, skin tingling. What was it, she wondered, that she was picking up on? Was it just the lingering effects of the overload?

And then the banging began.

She jumped, and the book fell to the floor, still partially open. Its pages folded under themselves and the binding buckled where a previous owner had broken it. The feeling of disorientation was intense, and for a moment, she couldn't figure out what the sound could be. Then it was joined by a voice, and she knew.

"Lisa! Hey Lisa! What the hell?"

The door. Someone was at the door. She shook her head; her body was deeply relaxed, to the point where it was difficult to coax her muscles into action, and she was having trouble forming coherent thoughts. Her phone, which lay on the edge of the coffee table, shuddered and beeped. She furrowed her brow and reached for it. There were four missed calls, all from Tony. What the hell, indeed. She glanced at the clock. Had she fallen back asleep?

"Lisa! Goddammit!"

Confused and alarmed, she rose and moved toward the foyer. The pounding became more insistent, rattling the door.

"C'mon, Leese, I know you're home! Open the damn door!"

Her breath caught and she gulped. It was just Tony, she told herself. He was mad because he thought he was being ignored, but he'd be fine once she let him in and apologized. Still, the relaxation was rapidly giving way to anxiety and her heart was climbing up her throat. Her hand trembled as she turned the bolt and unhooked the chain.

I'm seriously considering taking my fic off of a fandom-specific archive. I can't help but think the archive's still stuck in the late 00s. I mean, I have to make sure my summaries and fic are properly spelled with no grammar mistakes (or whatever the moderators deem as "appropriate"), but anyone can comment to my fic tiping lyke dis. And honestly, I get better feedback from AO3 than I do this fandom-specific archive.

If anything, it'll save me time in the long run backing my fic up from my journal.

Weird food combinations you like?

When I was little my grandpa once gave me a Ritz cracker with bbq sauce on it, and even now I still eat it occasionally if I happen to have both on hand. I'll also mix bbq sauce with mac & cheese.

Also, my family's always put sour cream on chili (which has to have pasta in it, which is weird in and of itself to some people).

When I was younger I would eat pb&j with Doritos in the middle.

Then when I first moved out on my own I'd make these weird sandwiches with cream cheese and grape jelly and cook them in a sandwich press thing then top them with powdered sugar. I have no idea where that idea even came from, but it tastes similar to stuffed french toast even though there are no eggs.

Also, potato candy (which consists of nothing but potatoes, powdered sugar, and peanut butter), which I think is a southern thing, but anyone I've mentioned it to thinks it sounds disgusting.

Adulthood?

So when do you think a person mostly becomes an adult? Or at least stops being wholly a kid? (On average, since maturity levels are diff for everyone, I guess.)

For example, even though I was paying for my own food and rent at 20, I didn't feel totally grown up, even though those were "adult" responsibilities.

Bonus fact-- many cultures didn't think adulthood started until about the third decade of life. The Romans, for example, counted life stages in increments of 7 years. They viewed the ages from about 15 to 28 (or 30) as adolescence, a period of growing.

Derek leaned in. "I'm going to bash your face in," he growled. His breath lashed against Stiles' ear.

"Yeah?" Stiles whispered. He squirmed uncomfortably; his stomach was churning with fear, but the rest of his body was responding with familiar heat. He wanted to sink into Derek even as he wanted to push him away and run. "Like to see you try."

Derek pulled back. He chuckled, but there was little mirth in his eyes. "Growing a pair, are you?" He grabbed the back of Stiles' neck, pulled his head toward him. The tips of their noses brushed. Stiles gasped.

"Charming. But it won't do you any good." Derek slid his hand around, folding it over Stiles' Adam's apple and pushing him back against the lockers. He drew his other arm back, preparing to strike, and Stiles braced himself, splaying his hands against the cold expanse of metal that cradled his back. Then, inexplicably, there was a pause. Derek's chest heaved. His pupils dilated. Stiles gulped and tried to ignore the fire that was coursing through him, the twisting pleasure that swiftly overriding his fear. And then a pair of hot, dry lips were on his, and a tongue was forcefully probing his mouth, and his mind was lost in the haze.
