Rec meme! You ask for recs, and others provide (or fill!).

Maybe there's something you'd really like to see but you can't find it. Why not ask for help? It might be out there! Or maybe there's something you really loved reading and you want someone to geek over it with. Why not rec it to someone else? Maybe they'll love it too! Who knows, someone out there might be looking for something that sounds exactly like someone you know just created.

Don't feel bad about reccing your own stuff, either! Apparently someone else wants to see it, right?

Fandom: Um... can be direct fairytale retelling or AU fic from any number of fandoms.
Preferred Medium: Fic. Maybe comics, if anyone knows of any good ones.
Preferred Genre: Romance/friendship, I guess. Angst on the way to a happy ending is fine, too.
Characters/Pairings: One person who's generally considered pretty if maybe a little odd/Other person who is disfigured/monstrous/potentially not even a person
Anything else? Details? I'm open for AUs from pretty much any fandom, so long as an in-depth knowledge of that canon isn't necessary. Het, GLBT, etc., all welcome.

I wrote this Quantum Leap snippet a few months ago. It's more in line with the Disney version of the fairy tale, but it might be what you're looking for?

if you're open to actual printed novels, try Mercedes Lackey's "Beauty And The Werewolf." It's pretty darn good.

As far as printed books go, you've probably read everything I can think to recommend--Robin McKinley's Beauty, Rose Daughter, and, to some extent, Sunshine, and also Alex Flinn's Beastly. As far as fanfic goes, Once Upon a Time fandom has quite a few because the show did a Beauty and the Beast episode that spawned a very popular pairing and tons of fanfic. Nym's A Bed of Thorns is a WIP AU, very well written provided you don't mind smut. It's updated regularly and she plans to finish it before the new season starts in late September, if you can't stand WIPs. Most of the rest of the fic for the pairing doesn't focus on the period of time when the beastly character actually looked like a beast.

I don't think you'd need to be familiar with the show to read it. Oh, and another book rec-Donna Jo Napoli's Beast, which is YA/young adult. Actually, so are Beauty, Rose Daughter, and Beastly.
