(Anonymous) 2012-08-19 01:54 am (UTC)(link)For instance there is a severe lack of programming with black leads that lasts more then a season, was this always the case? No, there are several iconic sitcoms with black leads. Does the fact that we had those shows make it okay to never have black leads again? Of course not, it's extremely problematic.
I do think secrets like this need to be worded better though because it's not that people don't want to watch women, it's that the industry thinks it's a "risk" to have certain shows be about women (or other minorities) and so they won't put it on the air.
