Sort of off-topic but not really...
There's a Japanese TV show called Keizoku 2: SPEC (nevermind the 2, you don't need to see Keizoku 1 to get it) where a bizarre female genius solves previously unsolved crimes with a male sidekick who joins her after being kicked off the Japanese equivalent of a SWAT team.
So she's basically a Japanese female Holmes.
And the show is like Heroes, if Heroes was ever done *really* fucking right.
Seek it out if you can and don't mind reading fansubs. It continues with two movies, the second one is getting a DVD release this October, which should wrap up the story, but just the ending to the original run of 11 episodes is pretty amazing.
And the leads have insane chemistry but not romantically linked, so pretty much your average Holmes/Watson canon.
