I think the fact she's so poorly put together is surprising to me mostly because...well. Isn't the stereotype for sociopaths that they really work on their charm factor/appearances?

although to be fair, that is mostly sociopaths in fiction.

but you know, CC always struck me as practically cartoonishly bad...

I wouldn't be surprised if she did all the ground work ONLINE, where it's easy to pretend to be who you aren't.

By the time they meet her, they're already half in love with the person they think she is. Sociopaths know how to be anyone they need to be and change to fit any given situation.

And I lump myself in with that description.
