As someone who's parents fucking hate each other, it made me so happy to see parents that were madly in love on TV. A lot of tv shows do the whole nagging-wife-stupid-husband thing that just pissed me off, because it made parental fighting seem cute and at worst irritating; I couldn't relate to that at all. I couldn't relate to the shows where the parents were madly in love, but it was just nice escapism.
