She suffers a hell of a lot in the middle for it. She was basically the one who fucked up everything for everyone, people got killed (including most of the population of La Push), she got Edward killed (given vampire bonds, this one had to have hit her the hardest), a lot of people end up not trusting her even after you take away Chelsea-related reasons, and her family gets broken apart entirely. The entire end of the story and most of Radiance is the consequence of Bella's arrogance.
Yes, they end up overcoming it in the end--with help from a lot of other people, whereas she was trying to keep people uninvolved in Luminosity under the presumption that only she should know things. It was only due to Elspeth, Siobhan, and Addy gathering a ton of others that they won. She had to tell other people things, had to stop assuming only she should know things.
Didn't get the same impression out of the ending you did, I guess, but I suppose like all things it's YMMV. I'd still take it over Twilight and a lot of other stuff I've read.
