So I guess those Just For Men, Rogaine, Hair Club for Men, Maxim shampoo, Bowflex, and Enzyte ads I've been seeing for the last decade or so have all been figments of my imagination. Good to know.

Gosh, yes, because that's all comparable to what women go through. THE POOR MEN.

I never said it was, because it isn't. Just bringing up that there's a bit more than "almost nobody" who puts these expectations on men, too. Not nearly to the degree that is done for women, but there is still at least some pressure there to have washboard abs and a huge package.

These are things men seem to largely want from and for themselves. It's not like we're the ones demanding it from them. Big penises are not usually the defining trait most women go for - it's men measuring against each other; plenty of bald men get play (hello, Sir Stewart! Sean Connery, etc. etc. - show me a fat woman men drool over en masse); and washboard abs are fun to look at, but I've never heard any woman I've known say "I got to get me some of THAT!"

Now, women I know do like a nice ass and nice legs. And I'll grant you that good hair is attractive - but again, refer to my remarks on bald men.

Again, you're assuming and countering things that I did not say. I never said that pressure came from women. Only that it's there. And in that regard, women do the same thing to other women as well. We judge the hell out of each other's appearances as often as the men do. Sometimes even moreso. Hell, just look at this thread.

Queen Latifah. Kirstie Alley. Toccara Jones. Jill Scott. Camryn Manheim. Cynthia Ettinger. Amanda Aday.

Kirstie Alley ... seriously? Camryn Manheim? I must live on a different planet than these men.

*shrug* Maybe. Or since plus-sized women are actually getting more exposure in entertainment, men aren't as wary of admitting they'd want Latifah's gravy before Lady Gaga's Ragu.
