Not really, considering the original script of the series was written in the language of Japanese. You could pick random languages out of a hat, but Japanese will always have the highest priority for theories on what language the character's speak, since it was originally done in Japanese. Hagaren could be a world where there's no Japan, and all the characters speak Japanese regardless (for example), if you really want to start making random theories about it. :3

Documents in the series were shown to be written in English.

Alright, thank you then! :3

Mm, I don't really put the language the series was presented in as the highest priority for what the characters are meant to be speaking, because if I woke up tomorrow and decided to go write something set in Russia, it would still be in English because I don't speak Russian. I don't think the language of the presentation and the language the characters are really using necessarily have any relation at all, and the names and setting look to be far more European influenced than Asian, I think.

...god why am I nitpicking at a fandom I left like two years ago, wtf me. XD

Yes! I don't really know much indepth about Hagaren myself (I just watched the anime series), but a friend who is up-to-date with the manga said it's kind of European, so *shrug* who knows. :P What I meant was though that if you really want to say that there's no Japan in a series, so therefore they don't speak Japanese BECAUSE of that fact, then you're starting to bring in theories of exactly where the world of Hagaren is in. The thing is that we don't know (apparently, considering all this wank XD). So, since we don't know 100%, the only clue would be Japanese, which is what the original was spoken in. No one knows though, that's really the point, but then it's not really fair to discredit anything else if you don't know.

So. I CALL FOR A HAGAREN FANFIC WITH RUSSIAN TERMS. XD
