I don't see why such a thing would be needed with a lesbian/bi princess. Girl falls in love with other girl. Not much different than any other Disney romance, in terms of storytelling. They could even make it take place in a world free of homophobia, to make it easier.

But first they would have to explain that, unlike in the real world, it's okay for girls to like other girls in this world. And now that I'm thinking about it, they'd probably show affection for one another by holding hands and kissing one another on the cheek. Couldn't really do your typical Disney romance, or people watching it in the real world would flip.

Not really. If the romance happens and no one objects to it on the grounds of them both being ladies, than it's already explained. I'm not saying that Disney would do it, just that's it's not very difficult to do, and I really do wish that it would happen.

You don't have to explain anything. Explaining subverts the point, in fact. When nobody even blinks, the audience will get it.

See also: Melinda Lo's Ash, where for once, the dyke part was an utter nonissue. It just wasn't. That's so rare and I had no idea how much I needed that.

You're giving the average Disney audience with small, innocent children who must be protected from the scary world too much credit, I think.

It's not that the audience wouldn't blink, but that the characters wouldn't.
