T.K./Kari 4EVER!!1!eleventy!! One of my first OTPs... God bless.

I could never have ragequit season 2, I cried tears of sorrow when Adventure ended. I was way too emotionally attached to these kids. Might explain why I never really warmed up to Davis and the others, I always felt like they were taking screen time away from my kids. :( /cool story sis

Eh, I think T.K.'s angst is understandable. He was eight and his friend was killed in front of him. Even if Angemon was revived as an egg, for an eight year old kid that has to be pretty traumatizing. Not to mention the fact that there were monsters after all of them trying to kill them. Honestly, all of the kids ought to be more messed up than they are. It's why I liked Tai's storylines in Adventure so much.

Never did get what was up with Kari and the Dark Sea, though. It seemed very random? Is that a dub issue or did they drop a plotline or what?

I feel like I recall that there was a dropped plotline somewhere? Maybe I'm making that up?

T.K. gets a pass from me, for a bunch of reasons, but Kari's sudden inner darkness was weird. Didn't fit her cheery/Light personality at all.

AND I FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT SEASON 2. I was like "Screw these new kids, give me more of the old guys!!! GO AWAY DAVIS, YOU ARE NOT TAI."

Exactly. I mean, it could have been interesting, the child of Light having an inner darkness, but the two times it came up were just completely WTF? Apparently it really was a dropped plotline, but still.

MTE on Davis. I was INDIGNANT when Tai gave Davis his goggles at the end of the first episode. YOU ARE NOT TAI. YOU DO NOT DESERVE THOSE GOGGLES! And I saw it coming from a mile away, but I still seethed when Davis picked up the DigiEgg of friendship.

It was a dropped plotline that was written by the guy that went on to do Digimon Tamers. Also a reference to Lovecraft, I think.

It was a really weird episode, where Kari disappeared from the real world and was taken to the Dark Ocean, where some creepy Digimon wanted to make her their queen. It was pretty dark and messed up for a kids show, tbh. In the German dub it was clear that they wanted to procreate with her. For most of the episode she was like under some kind of trance/mind whammy.

If it hadn't been so shippy (TK is the only one who notices something amiss and he's the one that finds her/guides her back) I never would have caught it again on the reruns.

I hated Davis, and later Ken, for being the show-stealers. Who are you? You're not real Digidestined. What the fuck, new Crest out of nowhere? GO AWAY, bring back the originals.

I didn't hate Yolei or Cody nearly as much as Davis. Good god, I always wanted to clock him.

T.K./Kari was one of my first OTPs too! I still kinda love them a little. Epilogue, what epilogue? I do not recall this epilogue people speak of.

I was very WTF at first at the new crest too, but I warmed up to Ken pretty quickly. I gave him a pass because *technically* he was a ~real~ Digidestined. (He was a woobie, kid!me was so horribly dramatic and over-invested. And very, very imaginative. Even as a kid I dreamt up how the first season would have went had Ken been among the original kids. I have a whole headcanon where he, T.K. and Kari bonded over being the youngest. Ken and T.K. are best friends (Davis who?) and whenever shit got too much at home Ken would stay over at T.K.'s. Only, you know, more dramatic and angsty. Also, Ken is a total T.K./Kari shipper. /projecting

The indignation I felt when Tai gave Davis his goggles... And of course him cockblocking T.K./Kari. It's a good thing I hadn't discovered fandom back then, because dammit, I would have died with this ship.

The epilogue is so many kinds of wrong. Ken and Yolei's children freaked me the hell out. Why do they all look exactly like their parents? D:

I remember warming up to Davis after a while, but I never liked him particularly.

Ken and TK? Really? Ken and Daisuke work because once Ken quit being the Kaiser, Daisuke was the first to accept him. TK took time warming up to him and didn't even tell him Wormmon would come back when he died.

Also, Ken became a Digidestined soon after the first season (as flashbacks show) and he even hung out with Ryo in the digital world (it's in the Digimon games made for the Wonderswan, which never made out here so we didn't get the games).

Keep in mind, the setting was that Ken was among the original kids. He and TK would have been the youngest for a long time, which they could have bonded over. I don't exactly remember how Ken was as a child, but wasn't he already introvert? It could have played off nicely with TK's cheerfulness. And I think TK would have thought it his ~duty~ to protect his friend once Ken admitted to him how his home-life looked. This shit wouldn't fly with chibi!TK (nor any of the other kids, of course).

I can see it happen, but then that's why it's my headcanon since, uh, about the time the first run of 02 ended?

Yeah, but your head canon takes events that never happened into consideration, and like I said, Daisuke was a friendly person anyway and didn't care that Ken was the Kaiser, he knew Ken needed help after his downfall... and TK did care that Ken was the Kaiser and didn't see any need to help him. It's something he probably had in the back of his mind until they got older.

Ken never even knew of the first 8 though. And when Ken quit being the Kaiser, TK didn't care and he did nothing to help him afterward, unlike Daisuke who didn't care that just moments ago, Ken was their enemy.

To be honest I'm not sure what you're talking about. Or better, what you're getting at. You're rehashing canon, but what my headcanon refers to is an AU? In that AU 02 wouldn't have happened (what with Ken not being infected by a dark spore). Maybe that's the reason for the confusion? I don't think I mentioned that before, but in my AU Ken was never infected and never became the Kaiser. Davies, Yolei and Cody only "appear" as side-characters, so to speak.
