someone help me out! I want to read kid Loki, where do I start?

For the bare minimum without backstory, start with Thor #617 (2011) and proceed from there, also Journey Into Mystery #622 (2011) and proceed from there. Also, for the Exiled crossover event, go with Exiled #1 (2012) and New Mutants #42 & #43 (2012) as well as JiM. Continue with Thor & Journey into Mystery to the present day.

He is also in the newer "The Mighty Thor" series as well, starting with #1.

Whoops, I meant that too. Go up to Thor #620.0, #620.1, #621 then TMT #1.

Possible order + a FAQ and extras to read besides it + considerations in case the early Thor stuff is too confusing.

The current The Mighty Thor/Journey Into Mystery crossover mentioned above will have this order:
TMT 18, JIM 642, TMT 19, JIM 643, TMT 20, JIM 644, TMT 21, TMT 22, JIM 645
Tentative calendar. After it's over, TMT will be canceled (and the next Thor series has nothing to do with the previous stuff from the looks of it), and JiM changes writer and steps away from Kid Loki (it'll become a book about Sif, Thor's lover).
