I felt the opposite way very early in the series, yes the audience knew Regina was evil but her outside actions to Emma were mostly that of a concerned mother, so I was actually rather confused when Emma was all about making Regina her enemy- considering she had no rights or reason to.

Emma didn't know Regina was really an evil queen, so actually Emma was really in the wrong to try to butt into the life of someone who adopted the son she gave up.

By the way I am not excusing Regina at all and I do think she hyper over reacted to Emma's presence, but their early rivalry just felt dumb all around because they had no reason to take the desperate actions they each took.

THIS. Emma kept threatening Regina with taking away the child. But Emma had no legal rights to do that - IRL, she probably would've got laughed out of court. I know it's TV, and exaggeration etc., but yeah, it all just felt so forced.

Seconding this.

Also Henry's overall actions. I mean, he feels wary of the woman who raised him, but wants to be with the lady who gave him up with no actual conflicting feelings about it? :/

Yeah plus Emma was very cold to him when they first met. The Henry and Emma relationship was just way too forced.

Yeah exactly. Part of the reason why I can't see them working together as mother/son is that their relationship feels pretty shallow. Regina much more motherly vibes (or maybe it's the actress's being amazing at it?), while Emma feels much more like an older friend to her own son.

Well yeah everything Regina told Henry was usually a mother line, "Go to bed, do your homework, you're grounded" etc. While Emma would scrunch her face at Henry for like a second but then let him run off and do whatever.

These are all reasons I wanted Regina not to remember being an evil queen too, the twist that she still had the Sheriff's heart was cool and all but I kind of wanted Regina to have two sides to her and to eventually have to deal with the person she was in the past. I like complicated villains though.

Woah that sounds like my dad and mom respectively. They should probably raise the kid together. :P

Likewise! But I think that, after the season finale, she will start going all evil all around. Evil Witch for everybody!

i dunno, i mean, henry completely believed that emma was snow white's daughter and the savior of the town. and at the very best his mom was a pill. it's not hard to imagine a kid feeling the way he did.

Haha point.

It just really bugs me when he completely pushes Regina away because she's the witch of the fairytale. It's like "dude, why are you pushing away the woman who pretty much raised you and has shown to be worried about you?"

(Not saying that Emma hasn't been shown to be worried, though)
