I like the series, but I didn't go in thinking it was going to be the most amazing piece of m/m romance fiction that had ever come down the pike. It's just a mystery novel written by a couple of former fanfic writers, churned out by a file-them-serial-numbers-off publisher. (I actually didn't know a damn thing about serial numbers and m/m fic when I read it; if I had, my expectations likely would have been lowered even further before reading...and I probably would have ended up liking it even more than I do.)

Anyway, I think it's well done in comparison with most similar titles out there. And compared to some, it's practically Pulitzer Prize-worthy. But it's not going to be winning any major, prestigious awards for its astonishing prose, no.

Looks like AR has actually switched publishers? Anybody know the story on that? Did she leave in protest after the TJ Klune fuss? I know at least one other DSP author who did.

Oh, and I should probably point out that I have no idea if this series started out as fanfic at all. I assume it did not.
