I remember feeling so hopeful and teary eyed when I first heard about the show and the brony fandom (back when there were only a few episodes of the first season aired).

I was all "aw, maybe there will be some less misogyny in the internet after all! C:"

Me too, anon. I was happily telling my sister how it was getting more acceptable for guys to like feminine/girly things.

Same here :(

I'm guessing Lauren Faust still defends them because she still feels that level of hopefulness? Afterall she is a cartoonist in the industry, and if guys can watch her "girly stuff" then its all good in her eyes; to heck with how the fandom treats other people @__@
