None of that crap bothers me.

I think it helps, however, that I don't give a shit about any of the Mark Watches stuff. It sounds like a lot of the drama comes from that, and it doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. The Mark Reads stuff is often at least interesting, and often very entertaining, when it's something that I already enjoy and which is meaty enough to allow for discussion - LotR and Sandman have both been pretty great IMO. There's a pretty great combination of visceral enjoyment of a property that you know well and interesting in-depth analysis of it.

It also helps that I spend most of my time online in places that are kind of brutal. Being somewhere that's overly sensitive and polite is a nice change for me. It's like a vacation. I can follow whatever norms are in place, even if they seem arbitrary to me. No skin off my back.

So, you know, maybe Mark is terrible or something. I don't know. I guess my engagement is hands-off enough that it doesn't really matter. Finally, my inherent slackerness and lack of commitment pays off.
