I don't know. I think this is totally sit back and eat popcorn worthy -- mostly to see the hater's heads explode. But then, I'm not really one to get upset by what other people ship, even if I don't ship it. I don't really get the whole impulse to hate other people for liking things I don't like.

Besides, they are both decent actors. It could actually be very good.

Thing is, it doesn't really have anything to do with shipping or hatred for the actors. I think Tom Hiddleston is great and find Benedict Cumberbatch to be a pretty good actor, even if he is sort of an ass sometimes. But their respective fanbases are completely fucking intolerable, and their forces combined + a canon and pairing that already has pretty heavy slash subtext as it is would mean terrible, terrible things for the GO fandom.
