I gotta say (with some surprise) that mine was Psych. Never seen people acting so melodramatically srs bsns and humorless about anything before. Like they thought they were watching The Wire instead of a goofy action-comedy about a guy pretending to be psychic. The Lassiter fans were the worst (I mean, I love Lassie but I'm not going to bitch about it if he gets made a fool of).

As I said before in this thread, Gossip Girl. The Chuck stans there pretend to like Chuck/Blair but they really don't give a shit about Blair or her character. They're also some of the most sexist, racist, homophobic, misogynistic stans I've ever met, and I've seen things from Whoniverse fandom (especially Torchwood), Supernatural and Sherlock.

Ew, Gossip Girl fandom. Misogynistic I've totally seen from Chuck/Blair shippers, but I've never seen "sexist, racist, homophobic". Can you give me some examples.

They would call Jessica Szohr "troll" and "whore" because she dated Ed Westwick. I've also seen epithets for Tika Sumpter, who played Chuck's (awesome) love interest in a few episodes.

I know some of them have used homophobic slurs against some actors, and some of them have insinuated that cast members (like Penn Badgley) are gay.

Then there are the Chuck stans who try to belittle domestic violence victims because they think domestic violence is only physical or that people talking about it should shut up on the internet and help other victims.

And, while I'm thinking about it, there was this one Chuck stan on Tumblr who tried to flag a gifset of Chuck nearly dying in the show as abuse.

I could go on and on.

When I read this kind of stuff, I feel really sorry for the GG fandom. :/ I really enjoy the show, but I can draw the line between the characters and the actors. Just because Chuck and Blair are together on the show, it doesn't mean that Ed Westwick and Leighton Meester should be a couple outside the show (cue the people insulting Jessica Szohr and Tika Sumpter for shipping reasons).

The shipping wars have to be the worst for me, though. Chuck/Blair might be my OTP, but that doesn't mean I support abuse or want an abusive relationship. (And for the record, I don't think Chuck/Blair is an abusive relationship - if it was, I wouldn't be shipping it in the first place. In the end it's really just a matter of tastes. Also, hello, Gossip Girl is just a tv show, there's really no need to take it so seriously!) Ugh, seriously people, grow up.

Man, I dunno, I'd say Harry Potter if I'm judging by volume, but it's not the most negative if I'm judging by proportion. Not by the time I got into the internet fandom, anyway.

The most negative slice of fandom I've ever seen might be the epic Rose vs Martha wars in Doctor Who, or the hardcore shippers in Avatar The Last Airbender. I don't think I've ever been in a really purely negative fandom before though. Superhero comics might count, but given what a mess both DC and Marvel had disintegrated into by the time I got into them, they were kind of justified in being negative.

Oh my Davies, the Martha HATE! I was there when Rose left and I cried more than was probably healthy (I was newly a teenager, cut me some slack) but even then, I knew that Martha was not nearly as bad as everyone claimed.

Although, to be honest, if I hadn't seen so much Martha bashing when my sole source of fandom was FF.Net, I probably wouldn't have felt so sorry for her or liked her as much.

My experience on tumblr wrt Legend of Korra: everybody hates everything. :(

Also: Glee. People, like it or not, Rachel Berry *is* the friggin main character, so skip her scenes or quit watching but stop complining at her screentime!

Although Glee fans are aware of it enough to joke about it, so they're not as bad as others.

I've found comedies or things you're not supposed to take super seriously often have the WORST and most serious fandoms. It's so bizarre because you always wonder how such humorless people could be watching comedy.

Oh, I agree! I'm so lost on the serious fic found in the Community fandom.

I'm in a comedy fandom that's relatively serious and quite analytic. It's the first time I've found a fandom where people like to analyze things the way I do, so I really enjoy it, and I definitely wouldn't say the people are 'humourless', but it is kind of funny to have such an in-depth and kind of serious fandom for a sitcom.

I thought I was the only one who it frustrated with the Psych fandom. I love the show and I have watched it since the beginning, but those fans really get on my nerves.

Thundercats 2011. The Lion-O fanboys were filled with so much hate and contempt for anyone who didn't hate Tygra that I just had to leave.

....I don't get how someone can be negative and srs bsns in a fandom about a character called "Lion-O".

Sadly, the ATLA fandom. Specially about the movie. I mostly skip things that get negative, but the amount of hatred towards something I actully LIKED made me retreat to te fringes of the fandom.

(And taht's not even getting into the shipwars).

Homestuck. The fandom gets absolutely insane anytime somebody dares suggest Hussie can be long winded or make any sort of error, and I've had friends ignore me completely unless I was talking about the webcomic. It also makes everyone cuss like 10 times more, which doesn't make people sound as cool as they think it does.
