Y'know, if it was anyone else but Fury I'd agree with you. Fury is a horrible person. He was when he was white, he was when he was latino and he is now that he's black.

Why is he horrible in the movie? Because of the weapons? Because of the card trick? That trumps all the other good he did? Refusing to nuke the city even when ordered? Personally trying to stop the nuke? Protecting and believing in the Avengers, presumably at great personal cost? Risking his life to bring the Avengers together? To try to save Coulson? I mean, obviously he's a manipulative dick, but c'mon — this is the fandom that says the genocidal world-conquerer is a poor innocent soul who everyone should be infatuated with and accepting of. D'you really think "but he manipulated them!" is a remotely legitimate reason? If they personally don't like him, they can say that, but if every single person doesn't like him or even find him interesting, I'm gonna start the side-eyeing.

This is a prime example of a double standard — pouncing on any flaws a female or minority character might have in order to have a flimsy excuse to ignore them and vilify them and paint them as evil or useless or unworthy of any attention.
