As has been mentioned, most lineups are Disney princess lineups and she's not Disney.

Though for those reasons it really bugs me when Merida is now in Disney lineups, Merida may be closer to Disney but she's really Pixar.

Merida's merchandise is in the Disney stores. I'm pretty sure that gets her "officially" lumped in with the princesses.

The Disney store sells Marvel merchandise too. Unless we're going to include Princess Spiderman I think Merida can be thought of as separate.

If Disney does put her in the official "princesses" line I won't argue, but I think the distinction for now is that she's a Pixar Princess.

Pixar is owned by Disney, though, there is no reason not to have Merida in the line up. Pixar/Disney is pretty much the same thing now since the old head of Pixar is now head of animation at Disney.

What really bugs me is that all the Merida merchandise looks awful, and not a thing like the character. Bah!
