I don't ship them, but I agree. I don't know how common queerbaiting bromances currently are in Japanese entertainment, but from a western standpoint it's been getting really annoying that so many shows have been doing it lately.

While I'm not holding my breath concerning Barnaby and Kotetsu, I think there's hope yet that some of the supporting cast might deliver. Nathan is established as attracted to men (I hesitate to say gay, because as I understand Nathan does not subscribe to the gender binary) and particularly to Antonio, and the two seem to have grown a bit closer by the finale. There's also Pao-Lin's crush on Karina.

I have not seen the original source, but I've heard that Word of God has it that Nathan considers hirself gender-free. Plus, there are the "us girls" comments to Karina and Pao-Lin, which is either bad writing of a gay character or deliberate indication that Nathan does not identify as strictly male.
