The problem comes when people insist that it's queer baiting when the creators have no intent of it being that, and when that's the case people just come across entitled. Maybe you see it, yes, but maybe the creators honestly and truly didn't even have that cross their mind.

Does this show really go beyond bromance and into blatant queer-baiting? Because if it doesn't, then I don't think it's a good choice for this argument.

Shows that do genuine queer-baiting like Sherlock (aka lots of gay jokes) and then go "HAHAHA NO" are to me a big problem though. THAT is queer-baiting and then being a dick about it.

No, it doesn't go beyond bromance. If anything there's a father and son angle to the relationship if you squint, but no queer-baiting.

That's kind of what I've picked up, yeah.

Trust me, the creator were queerbaiting during the run. The fact that the little "fact" from the Hero Books that if one of them were a woman, they would've fall in love at first sight should be solid evidence that it was in play (not to mention the products and advertisement as well). They knew what their base was and they pandered to them as well.

That's odd to me because from what I've seen of the series (granted not the entire thing yet), I don't actually get a romantic vibe from them. Maybe it's the age difference, but it just doesn't come across that way to me.

And yes I'm sure they queer bait in official images. They do that for every anime under the sun. :\

I thought the intended fanbase was originally supposed to be working men in their thirties. The fact that fujoshi descended upon the show might have changed things later, but from I've heard it was supposed to be a show for middle aged Japanese men who could identify with Kotetsu.
