Oh, I'm so with you there. I love the movie, but I love the manga series infinitely more. I still think it's one of the best I ever read.

WAIT I just realized I misread your secret, my bad.

Either way, I tried that manga and didn't care for it--it was just too preachy for my tastes?--but it comes up a ton in "best of manga" lists and stuff so I'm sure there's plenty of people that DO feel similarly to you.

Because you can buy the DVD in any shop and you'd have to have a bit of a look for the manga (and IIRC it's multiple volumes so it would also cost a good bit more) - that would be my guess.

I think you could make a pretty strong case for the Nausicaä manga being the greatest comic book ever created, yes.

Haven't seen the manga, but Nausicaa and Castle in the Sky are my fave Miyazaki films, I feel rather alone in that.

I would call it /one of/ the best ever but yeah, agreed with the general sentiment... but isn't it a widespread opinion that this manga is waaay better than the anime adaptation? I've never ever heard the contrary, I'm surprised this is a secret (I'm Italian though, so... different distribution of the two pieces of media?).

This manga... is AMAZING in pretty much every aspect.

Miyazaki should've stuck to television direction and manga. I don't think he was half as good at making movies
