Dear young man with a shiny new mini,

You have, for some strange reason, chosen to zoom right up behind me, to use the petrol pump I am parked by. This is odd, because there are three other identical pumps on this forecourt, all of which are free. I am currently making an important record of how much petrol I put into the car, and haven't even started my engine. I also need to tend to a couple of minor tasks that will take, at most, a minute. I need to do these before I start moving.

Beeping your horn once would indeed have alerted me to the fact that you are waiting, if I hadn't seen you before. I looked at you, made eye contact, and held up the book I was writing in. Quite what you hoped to achieve by continuing to beep your horn over and over again, I don't know. What you actually achieved was that I decided to act as if you and your needs were supremely unimportant to me, which involved slowly and calmly completing my tasks more thoroughly than I otherwise would have, slowly starting my engine, checking all mirrors and blindspots slowly and exaggeratedly, and very slowly pulling away. I would guess it took twice as long as if you hadn't been beeping over and over again.

If you are so desperately short for time, why didn't you go to one of the other pumps?

Pretty much this. I do not understand people and the things they choose to get in a tizzy over.

He probably just thought you were super sexy and wanted you to know it.

I hate asshats like that. You responded well, however. LOL

Whenever people tailgate me, I make sure to drive extra slowly because they're such a special snowflake.

I do that too, especially when we are some place where the other driver can pass me but doesn't for some reason and/or I was already going over the speed limit.

Oh hell yes, this. I once slowed down to about twenty miles an hour on a mostly empty three-lane highway because some asshat was tailgating me and refusing to go around me into one of the other two, clear lanes.

LOL I do this as well.

i get out of the way. personally i think it's really stupid and dangerous to respond rebelliously to someone who is already behaving aggressively when they're operating what is basically a weapon.

I do unless they flash their lights or look really distressed somehow - not if it's clear they're just a jerkface. Because, you never know where they might need to be; my dad missed my mother dying in the hospital by just under 10 minutes after they called. I never will know if it was actually only the distance to the hospital, or drivers pissed off he was tailgating in the passing lane, "teaching him a lesson."

Awww, I'd have been tempted to shoot him a puzzled look and gesture at the other pumps. People ARE weird. Full moon?
