Advice about grief?

So I recently found out one of my friends committed suicide. We weren't super close, but it was still upsetting and I found myself bursting into tears for a few days afterwards.

My question is, is it normal to be so upset when you're thinking about other things? I started crying a few times when my friends were being nice to me, or I'll be upset and thinking "Man, I should stop crying, I wonder if I'll still be upset by Monday, I guess this is how I grieve" and so on. And then I feel like a terrible person because I should be thinking of my friend, and I am, I miss him and it hurts but my actual thoughts don't reflect that.

So am I a bad person?

It's normal. You're doing fine. Grief is complicated and miserable, but it will gradually improve.

There's no wrong way to go about grieving, provided you're not hurting other people in the process. Whatever thoughts and feelings you're having are all natural. *hugs*
