Notes:
Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally clicked the wrong thing and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (a bit over 100) are gone.
If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here and it will still go up this week.
The submissions post for next week is linked below as usual.
Secrets Left to Post: 00 pages, 000 secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-02 08:25 am (UTC)(link)I actually kind of like the show - enough to watch it if it's on, if not to follow it religiously. But the reason that we can see ourselves in it is because it's a well-made show, made by people who know nerds, committed to portraying some kind of emotional reality, and well-acted. It's a good show, that's why we can identify with it. But it's not intended for nerds, it's intended for people who aren't like us. It's not mean-spirited; it's trying to understand, at least, the fundamental / emotional aspects of what being a super nerd is all about (and I realize that it sounds strange to be taking a multi-cam sitcom so seriously, but that kind of commitment to some kind of emotional realism is at the center of most really good or even mediocre sitcoms). But it's definitely for outsiders looking in, not insiders looking out.
I agree with you that shipping Sheldon with anyone is kinda fuck up. But I also want to say that I think the female characters on this show are by FAR the best thing about it and I guess what I want to do here is declare undying love / admiration for Mayim Bialik and if someone wants to ship Amy Farrah Fowler and Sheldon, I will go down the line with them.
