Doesn't anyone ever remember the exchange at the end of PoA where Sirius and Remus were both "...sorry I thought you were a possible spy/traitor >.>;" moment (I don't have a copy of PoA on me at the moment, but it's right before/after the "hugging like brothers" part)?

Sirius wasn't chosen as Secret Keeper because they thought Voldemort would be sure to go after him, and Remus wasn't chosen because they thought he . . . well, they had reason to pause. Ironically, the one they should've run screaming from was the one who was deemed more trustworthy than Remus.

That's the kind of Marauders fic I wanna write some day--those last, desperate days, when Sirius and Remus both suspect each other and Peter has already betrayed them.

A lot of people tend to overlook Peter. I mean, he's not even in ninety percent of Marauder art. Backstabbing jerk he is, you've gotta remember that they didn't see him that way, and didn't know he'd pull something like that. He might've been kind of the "uncool one" of the group, but he was deemed least likely to betray everyone by pretty much the whole group (though I'm sure supposedly being dead later was a definite contribution to that! XD).

Yeah, people need to remember that at the time they had no reason to think Peter was a backstabbing jerk/evil/a sell-out. Of course, for a lot of people, they conveniently forget that things like current songs/fashion/technology didn't exist in that time period either. XD

A lot of people tend to overlook Peter.

That is quite possibly my biggest pet peeve about the Harry Potter fandom. There is no character I'm more interested in the motivations of than Peter Pettigrew; I don't get how so many fans just glaze over it so easily, especially if they're MWPP-era fans. I mean, obviously it's because he "isn't pretty", and because of all those bitter things Sirius said to him in PoA, but- but...

... the stuff the Marauders did and the trouble they got into... that is not by any means the kind of stuff you drag someone you don't like into. I can believe that they may have looked down on Peter (well, Remus not so much, but Sirius most definately), but them outright disliking him in their school days just boggles. And, y'know, if Peter had *always* been that cowardly and backstabby, how the hell did he get into Gryffindor in the first place? He had to at least have had the potential for bravery.


Mostly I just think Peter's cool because he's pretty much the only villain NOT from Slytherin. :P

Hey, I've read plenty of R/S fics that cover the more rocky than usual patch. Even wrote one myself back in the days when I was still a big R/S shipper. We do love the angst.
