Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.

The submissions post for next week is below as usual.

Secrets Left to Post: ?? pages, ??? secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.

Man, the thing that ruins fandom the most for me isn't just the SJWs but the people who hate them and accuse anyone of so much as being bothered by something of being a social justice warrior.

I think that's why I loved this update so much, because it covers all of that. With the other trolls being apathetic to Porrim's concerns and comparing her to Kankri, and Kankri talking over Porrim because his issues take precedent over hers. It's nice getting a chance to laugh at that rather than being irritated and discouraged for once.

Though seeing people take the joke literally or being offended by it anyway because other people do take it literally is pretty annoying too. Also, the fact that some people are trigger warning for the trigger warning jokes in the update is just..............

That's one reason why I'm loving Porrim so much already. That the issues she wants to discuss are things I've been dying to know about forever doesn't hurt.

You can't just have that last paragraph and not provide tasty, tasty links. :D?

I assume you mean about warning for the trigger warning jokes? Well, here's one. http://fireking.tumblr.com/post/30557639166/im-not-putting-this-homestuck-spoiler-under-a-cut

Man, I WISH the wank over this was tasty, but I've just been finding it depressing. :\

Yesss, that will do nicely. Mostly I was just curious about how someone could justify warning for trigger warning jokes.

It is pretty sad. For one thing, anyone who needs to be warned for jokes about trigger warnings is exactly the kind of person who needs to read the update. Self-reflection is kind of a major part of effective social activism, you know? If you see yourself in Kankri, that's maybe something you should think about.

Yeah, and I would think that the less radical social justice activists would appreciate the joke since SJWs and white-splainers are a big pain in the butt to them as well.

I recognized a lot of what Porrim was talking about, and what Kankri/others said to Porrim, as stuff I see frequently with people dismissing arguments about problematic things. Like "we can't be racist, we have a black president!" or "let's not muddy our conversation about homosexuality with how it's affected by sexism, those are two separate things." I would think more people would appreciate that, but only a couple of people have brought that up.

Plus, the fact that Porrim is never brought up when people complain about Kankri makes me think they stopped thinking at that point and just assumed the worst. /rant
