Being French, I never laughed so hard at a trigger warning. (I want a rage warning for bad French in fic though. I know that French is hard but a little Google-fu would not hurt.)

I loved this update,
not only because of meeting more alpha counterparts of the ancestors, but also because of all the shit it was making fun of.

And Meenah is pushing really, really hard to become my favorite troll.

It'll be interesting to see what other stereotypes they make fun of in the next update(s).

This comment, exactly. (Although I am finding myself partial to Porrim. And Aranea. And Latula. Okay, Meenah too. And of course it's not like Terezi stopped existing or anything...)

On the stereotype thing: many of the Homestuck trolls are, to some extent, the embodiment of a particular subculture. Andrew Hussie is on the record as saying that he challenges himself to create characters that you will want to hate, and then make you love them. He wants us to make fun of Kankri, and then fall in love with him when we least expect it.

So yeah, if there are any more subcultures that Homestuck readers are predisposed to find annoying, those are the ones we'll see.

I loved this update for that exact reason. The reactions are especially hilarious to watch, but that's just me.

And Porrim is quite a beautiful lady too, that didn't hurt either. =V

There's also a bit of maybe unintended meta if you consider that the digs at sjws are coming from a white cis hetero dude too. Still, I love Porrim in this so much. And Kankri being a passive aggressive sexist hypocrite was also awesome. And the bubblr rebubbling things that poke such beautiful fun at the site ♥

Aw man, was the trigger warning for French in the update? I must have missed it.

That aside, as interested as I am in social justice, I found Kankri's caricature of overzealous Tumblr SJWs hilarious.

Nope, the French thing was part of the homestuck shipping olympics in which the mods had everybody involved submit their triggers and whatever made the list had to be warned for in story summaries/art descriptions/etc.

Notable triggers submitted involved French (the language), couch cushions, and "reality bending."

man, kankri was great (great as in horrible). His portrayal as someone who is overzealous about social justice to the extreme of being condescending to the the people he says he's standing up for (to the point of being straight up misogynistic) reminded me SO MUCH of people I've seen on tumblr. I loved it. Poor Karkat though

also: the "rosemary" part was awesome. So cute. And Aradia was adorable with her little finger guns and winking.

Man, the thing that ruins fandom the most for me isn't just the SJWs but the people who hate them and accuse anyone of so much as being bothered by something of being a social justice warrior.

I think that's why I loved this update so much, because it covers all of that. With the other trolls being apathetic to Porrim's concerns and comparing her to Kankri, and Kankri talking over Porrim because his issues take precedent over hers. It's nice getting a chance to laugh at that rather than being irritated and discouraged for once.

Though seeing people take the joke literally or being offended by it anyway because other people do take it literally is pretty annoying too. Also, the fact that some people are trigger warning for the trigger warning jokes in the update is just..............

That's one reason why I'm loving Porrim so much already. That the issues she wants to discuss are things I've been dying to know about forever doesn't hurt.

that was the best update. Which is something I've said about the flash before it, and the two before that one, but it was still the best.

NGL if the people who took the update seriously up and ragequit Homestuck, I say good riddance. Hey, you don't have to make overzealous complaints about Homestuck or related things anymore! Everyone wins!
