Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.

The submissions post for next week is below as usual.

Secrets Left to Post: ?? pages, ??? secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.

So, am I going to be the one to say it?

If you're teaching your kids at home that the magical beardy sky man made the world in seven days, that's preventing your kid from getting an actual education and is tantamount to abuse.

You honestly don't see anything wrong with kids learning actual real science in school, then going home to their parents, who promptly start going HOMG FOSSILS WERE PLANTED BY THE DEVIL MY IMAGINARY SKY FRIEND MADE EEEVERYTHING? Kids need consistency, or they're going to begin to distrust all education. And since creationism is flat-out wrong, they shouldn't be taught it in schools or at home.

I don't care if it's telling people how to raise their kids. Things like racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, sizeism, ageism, and, yes, anti-science bullshit like creationism should not be taught anywhere, or we'll be raising a generation who think that fuckwits like Rick Santorum and Sarah Palin are worthy rulers of the nation.

Ummmmm wow, so

Teaching something you believe at home is NOT preventing anyone from getting an actual education.

Not everyone is going to work in a scientific field and I guarantee you there are *plenty* of people who believe in evolution who are qualified for those jobs.

I find the constant equating of teaching literal creationism to teaching actual bigotry a little bit disturbing, too.

I'm all about being progressive but you have to draw a line somewhere because freedom is important in its own right too. You sound like you want to take away a LOT of personal freedom in favor of enforcing your ideals, and to me that's just trading one "evil" for another.

I'm all about keeping public education free of both religion and of harmful teachings (like bigotry) and people are able to make their own choices once they see different perspectives. I also think you're being rather alarmist. I have a lot of hope for my generation and for the next, given that we're getting more informed, more tolerant, and more progressive with each generation and really each passing year.
