The driving-on-the-wrong-side thing only weirded me out when I was actually in the States, and that's because, even though I thought I was perfectly fine with, "Oh, okay, it's keep right here, that works", any time we turned a corner, it'd seem to me like they were on the wrong side. I'd sort of brace myself for a half-second before I realised.

At least you never turned into the wrong side while you were there.

My Dad is South African and a few years ago he spent a month back home. When he came back he was driving me one day and he drove into what would have been the oncoming traffic lanes. Luckily it was asscrack o'clock so no one else was on the road and he was able to fix it when I pointed it out to him but yeah.

Good thing you haven't done that. In a way, the 'weirdness' probably made you hyperaware and less likely to relax and switch up.

Oh, I don't drive, so I was only a passanger. But yeah, that awareness probably would be a good thing.

Yeah, it's a surprisingly common mistake. I know more people who have done it than just my Dad.

Heh, it's no problem. I phrased it pretty ambiguously.

Yeah. It's one of the reasons I AM glad I don't drive, since I'm from Australia but want to live part-time in the States, and I know that I'd eventually get too used to it and slip up... public transport is so much easier!

Yeah it is. When it's available public transport is fabulous. It's even more fabulous when they work out deals with residents and stuff.

Deals are good? XD Thankfully, the city I want to move to has pretty extensive public transport! (Icon very very relevent.)

Well, I mean, I get to ride certain busses for free because of the school I go to. It's nice.

Ah, yeah, San Fran has a much better system than my city. I hope you like it there.

Yay! Come to San Francisco! Yes!

Sorry. I get excited for my city sometimes.

SF's public transportation is definitely good - certainly better than most places in America - but it can be really frustrating sometimes, either through delays, slow travel, being really crowded, or just being grungy. But it's mostly pretty great for getting around. Hope you find your way here and enjoy it!

I love SF <3 Been there a few times, in both summer and winter, and it's just... love it. I just graduated with a science degree and a major in museum studies, so once I do my Master's, I'd love to come over and work for the California Academy of Science or the Exploratorium (or others, but those are my favourites!).
